I think THE HORSE should be America's National Animal instead of the Bald Eagle. No other animal has made the contributions to the progress of our wonderful country as the horse.
He pulled the plows of our forefathers to clear and work the harsh virgin lands.
He pulled the wagons of the brave and fearless pioneers to blaze those first trails across the hot, dry desert.
He carried doctors to treat the sick, pulled the fire patrol wagons, and carried our mail from one end of the country to the other.
He carried many soliders into battle, and hundreds gave their lives there with their masters.
Yet, for the countless contributions he has made to this country, he receives little recognition, not even the position he deserves as "NATIONAL ANIMAL".
What has the bald eagle done for our great country?
The next time you see a horse take time and think about the role his ancestors played the development of this great country. What point would we be in society today had it not been for the magnificent creature, "THE HORSE" !
